Taste of Nairn 6-8 May 2022, come join in!
In a moment of madness I have signed up for the World Tattie Scone Championship (what have I done?). I have never made a tattle scone, I do love them though.
A tattie scone, traditionally uses leftover mashed potatoes which are mixed with flour, salt, pepper and butter (or oil) and then cooked on a griddle or frying pan. A Tattie Scone is something you will normally find on a breakfast plate, a traditional Scottish Breakfast, of course. Beside tasty wonders like Black Pudding, Haggis, fried eggs, mushrooms and other delights. I do love some baked beans with my traditional Scottish Breakfast and I believe you can’t call it a Scottish Breakfast unless haggis, black pudding and tattie scones are present.
I’ve just watched a video on YouTube to see how you make a Tattie Scone and I’ve chosen my secret ingredients, I do hope there is a booby prize for people like me who are likely to burn their Tattie Scone and stink out the venue.
Taste of Nairn is a local food and drink festival, held over 3 days in Nairn, (Scotland’s Sunshine Coast)and has stalls, demos, the championship and also a Showstopper Cake Contest. Many of the events are taking place at Nairn’s Community & Arts Centre, but other cafes, hotels, the Museum, restaurants and other local businesses are holding special events throughout the 3 day festival.
We hope to see you there at the Taste of Nairn festival #TasteofNairn #VisitNairn #NairnBid #ScotlandsSunshineCoast
