Cycle Routes in and around Nairn

Brought your bike on holiday? Wondering where to go? Great, here are some ideas!

Cycle to Auldearn

Cycle straight from Altonsyde, along the Promenade and up the back roads to Auldearn.

Visit the historic Doo Cot, has a refreshing drink at the 1645 pub and learn more about our local witch, Isobel Gowdie.  Click here for the PDF.

Cycle Nairn to Fort George

Most of this route is on back roads, straight from Altonsyde. Cycle past Delnies wood, a short section beside the A96, then down onto the quieter Ardersier Road.

Ardersier has a lovely little board walk, if you don’t fancy visiting Fort George.

Cycle Nairn to Brodie Castle

Again along the promenade, past Nairn Dunbar Golf Course and beyond.

Watch this video of my journey on quiet backroads on an Ebike, where I visited Macbeth’s Hillock along with Brodie Castle’s beautiful gardens.

Cycle Nairn to Cawdor

Cawdor Castle and more importantly Cawdor Tavern is only approximately 6 miles away.

Most of the journey is on quiet roads and a cold drink awaits you at the Tavern if you don’t wish to visit the Castle.

National Cycle Route 1

You can start this journey from your front door at Altonsyde. Cycle along the promenade, over past Nairn Dunbar Golf course and then onto Route 1.
