For a micro business we try to pack a big punch! Altonsyde is delighted to be awarded Bronze Green Tourism award at Altonsyde.

I think we weren’t aware of what we already offered, and by going through the application process with Green Tourism, Scotland we became even more aware of what we already do and what small improvements we could make to improve our Green Credentials.

From attending training courses offered by Zero Waste Scotland and becoming a Green Champion, Bird boxes, beastie boxes, wild flowers, led lighting throughout, insulation, double glazing, separate bins for rubbish and recycling, a place to dry your washing outside, encouraging environmental travel, encouraging our guests to ‘consider switching off’, eco water heaters and much more. We are proud of the small but significant difference we are making.

We have also ordered a Bike Storage Shed from Asgard as recommened by the Scottish Cycling (MTB grant). This will be arriving in late October 22 and will compliment our bike stand which we have already, outside tap (for washing down your bike) and access to a bike pump.

Having ordered solar panels and a Tesla battery over a year ago, we hope these too will be installed in the near future. Although the demand for these has rocketed due to the massive increases in utility bills. Fingers crossed our solar is up and running soon!
